Our coffee tables are available in various sizes and can be custom-built to meet your specific requirements. We utilize a range of exceptional woods, including walnut, cherry, maple, and other distinctive urban and recycled varieties. By partnering with small sawmills across the country, we source materials that tell a story of responsible harvesting.

We prioritize using recycled and reclaimed wood whenever possible, giving new life to trees that would otherwise be discarded. In fact, we’ve gone the extra mile, quite literally, to acquire exceptional materials. For instance, we embarked on a 2000-mile journey from Montana to Maryland, collaborating with a small tree service company that transformed urban trees into firewood. With their newly acquired sawmill, we were able to salvage slabs of wood that would have otherwise been destined for a wood stove, crafting them into exquisite heirloom furniture.

Once the wood arrives at our off-grid shop, powered by solar energy, we meticulously stack and air dry it for approximately one year per inch of thickness. This patient process ensures that the wood reaches the optimal dryness level, preventing warping, cracking, or bowing. Only then do we begin the transformative work of planing, sanding, and finishing the slabs, preparing them for their final purpose as a remarkable piece of furniture.

Inspired by the pioneering work of George Nakashima, we embrace the concept of the “Soul of the tree.” Our coffee tables often exhibit the enchanting “live edge,” allowing the natural contours and character of the wood to shine through. This approach grants us greater freedom to infuse creativity into our craftsmanship, resulting in truly exceptional and one-of-a-kind designs.

With over 30 years of experience in collecting wood slabs, we curate an extensive inventory that encompasses a diverse range of species, shapes, and stories. From Pennsylvania to Utah, California to Maryland, Oregon to various states nationwide, we source hardwood slabs from small sawmill owners who provide limited supply selections. This ensures that each coffee table possesses a distinct shape, species, and narrative. To meet your preferences, we ship materials from across the country, tailoring our offerings to your specific needs.
